Mission:

APU provides a world-class, hands-on, culturally responsive educational experience in collaboration with our students, communities, and tribal partners.

At APU, learning is a dialog and personal. Professors know students by name and learn from them while sharing their own gifts. Our program development, research and outreach are done in partnership with the communities we serve. Alaska’s Indigenous heritage and the value of Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing are also central to who we are and embedded within our education.

At APU, education extends beyond our campus. Kellogg campus is more than a farm and provides opportunities for community-based projects; our nursing program extends to communities throughout Alaska with need, our FAST Lab works directly with the Alaska fishing industry in research that impacts Alaska communities and families directly, our elite Nordic Ski program extends to a 400+ community program through a commitment that values community skiing along with world-class athletes.
